Hello! Today, we’re going to do another part of my action item (this certainly is taking awhile, though). This week, it’s all about the short story contest.
Setup: You know, although you’ve gotten a pretty good in life so far, I think you need to make your mark on something. Like…get published in a contest! Then, at least, you may be remembered after you die. So, you should get writing!
(as your about to start) Hold on! (insert the screech of tires sound effect here) You’re not an author. You’re not an editor. You may have done well in school, but this is an entirely different thing! Get some research first!
Alright, you’ve done some research. That’s good. Now, maybe you should start on your story.
Alright, now you should find someone who can edit your story.
Hmmm…well, your friend edited it, and it was pretty good. Just do all the corrections, and you should be ready!
Phone call! Better leave it for the answering machine.
…what. Oh man, oh man, this is bad. It looks like your mother is…is in deep trouble. She collapsed outside the mall, and someone was kind enough to call 911 for her. You better go see her.
…You know what? I think you should dedicate this story to her. Yeah.
Alright, now it’s good, and you should probably send it in the mail.
Wha? Is this another dream? How bizarre…is that your mom?
Hey! Get back here, mom!
What…what is this? It looks like some bizarre monster, with all of it’s bizarre parts throbbing, like a heart…
(If the monster is defeated) Monster: Well…done…*cough*. But don’t think you’ve helped her at all. You’re just denying the obvious.
(If you are defeated) Monster: As much as I would like to finish you here, but now’s not your time. But I thought it would be nice to tell you that you’ve failed.
(As you wake up) What happened? It was like a nightmare…but you better check on mom.
Oh no…it…what happened? Apparently, she’s gotten progressively worse.
Well, you might as well mail your story…
Payoff: A few days later, you get word that your mother has recovered. A few weeks later, you get a letter in your mailbox, saying that you didn’t win in the short story contest. It doesn’t matter to you though, because you still have your mother. The player is then treated to a photo of the characters entire family together, and they’re all smiling.
Well, there you go! As a note though, these are wearing me down. I probably won’t post the next few till the second week of April, as I’m taking a little break. So, good-bye! And enjoy yourself for the next few week!
